The JLF Trek SA 2017

About the Event

This popular event runs on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 May is one of The Jodi Lee Foundation's major fundraising events for 2017. This May we ask you to challenge yourself and hike 80km along the Heysen Trail to save lives by raising awareness of bowel cancer.

The JLF Trek begins at dawn on both days:

  • Day One starts at Myponga and finishes at Petrel Cove, Victor Harbor.
  • Day Two starts at Tunkalilla and finishes again at Petrel Cove. At the finishing line join in our celebration with food, drinks, live music, speeches and for the very first time, some special awards!

The JLF Trek is an endurance event, designed to challenge you physically and mentally. The terrain is fairly moderate, however on day two your limits will be pushed as you face a number of challenging climbs and a long section of sandy beach. A medium to high level of fitness is required and with the right preparation and attitude you’ll be amazed at what you can achieve.

Whether you complete the full 80km – or do one day or just sections of the Trek – we know you will be challenged, inspired and extremely proud of what you have achieved.

The Friends of the Heysen Trail, voluntarily build and maintain the waking trails. To ensure hikers stay on the trail the Association has marked it with distinctive red arrow markers. These can sometimes be difficult to follow… so be prepared for some orienteering!

The registration fee is $250 per person. This fee covers some of the costs involved to run this 2-day event. It also includes all your bus transfers to and from start and finish lines as well as free endurance and fitness training sessions for those that can make it to Adelaide.

Fundraising is an essential element of The JLF Trek as it allows us to continue the important work we do to save lives. We encourage you to strive for an individual fundraising goal of $850. This is just a guide but we ask you to aim high because every dollar helps prevent bowel cancer.

To provide detailed event logistics and safety information, a compulsory event briefing will be held on Thursday 18 May at 6.00pm in Victor Harbor.

Be quick to register as places are strictly limited. Registrations open until 14 April 2017 unless sold out prior.
