I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease at 21, so bowel health has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Knowing that the constant inflammation is a known cancer cause means that I am at a heightened risk. Regular colonoscopies and constant monitoring my a team of fabulous doctors means that early detection for myself is possible - I know for many this is not the case. I want to help raise awareness of bowel cancer. I want people to know the symptoms, where to get help and that this taboo subject matter of poo is ok to talk about. I hope for a future whereby this is not a worry for my children -and that can only occur through fund-raising and further research. I also look forward to challenging myself to this big undertaking of walking 80km with my two best friends and biggest supporters and rocks when my health has been less than perfect.
