In 1969, at age 38, my grandmother passed away from bowel cancer. She left behind a life she didn’t want to leave. A loving husband, a 13 year old son and an 11 years old daughter who became my mum.
Fast forward 50 years and bowel cancer is still the second most common cancer in both men and women in Australia.
The crazy thing is that bowel cancer is one of the most preventable cancers. If detected early, the chance of successful treatment and long-term survival improves significantly.
More needs to be done to prevent people suffering. I'm taking part in the Jodi Lee Foundation 80 km trek to raise awareness about prevention and to provide some essential funds for the Jodi Lee Foundation. If you are able, please support me as I tackle this.
