I'm taking part in this event in the name of bowel cancer prevention and to raise essential funds for the Jodi Lee Foundation.

My cousin, Jaymee was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer in January this year. She has undergone major surgery as well as minor surgeries along with chemotherapy and radiation. While the chemo treatment is ongoing until October, she is showing her courage, positivity and strength by joining this trek but for the massive 25km!

My aim is to complete the 10km with a few others in her team to help get her across the line but also to be at the finish line when she crosses to not only show our love and support but to encourage her! She is not only on a mission to kick this to the kerb but she is so determined to spread awareness and that it doesn't matter what age you are, that if you have any concerns or feel as though something isn't right to book a doctors appointment and get checked. The signs and symptoms aren't always there and/or are obvious or painful.
