Hi my name is Katrina Hood, my Husband, 3 beautiful children (aged 17, 15 & 12) and I live in a rural community south east of Adelaide.
I have been a teacher at the local area school for the past 24 years. I enjoy the great outdoors, playing and coaching netball and spending time with family and friends.
In 2011 at age 44, I was diagnosed with stage II bowel cancer. Thankfully I was persistent in seeking an explanation for the abdominal pain I was experiencing.

Following surgery I underwent 6 months of chemotherapy and then returned to full time work.
Although I have encouraged friends and family to undertake the screening I am keen to be a part of raising awareness of early detection for bowel cancer and help raise funds for The Jodie Lee Foundation.
I am looking forward to trekking through the Flinders Ranges, something I haven’t done since I was a teenager.
The 80km, 2 day walk will certainly be a challenge and I had better be upping the 4.5km walk I currently do most days in preparation.
