I am privileged to have been approached to ride The Little Black Dress Classic and really looking forward to the adventure. The opportunity to ride with like minded people with good hearts is not one to be missed. My first interface with the cycle was as a young Chemical Engineering undergraduate peddling from Portsea to Melbourne in some teenage stupor, but still harnessing the latest technologies and determined to win. My introduction to bicycling evolved from a notional leisure activity into a full blown obsession. I quickly understood the culture. It is about the bike and it is about the coffee shop. You will be able to follow the black BMC with the Rolf Prima wheels, wheels that lighten the load on the legs and bring that finish line closer.I race with the Southern Districts Ladies and Veterans Cycle Club who have kindly indicated their support for the event. My colleagues have unkindly tagged me “The Tank” as I commit my energies around the hills of McLaren Vale in SA.The things I am passionate about are working with Rotary in Adelaide, sitting on an advisory board with UniSA, playing tennis, an obsession with cycling, the odd walk or two and yet still find the challenge at work. I spend my time trying to crystallise the essence of what needs to be done to create a sustainable, contributing business. I am split between being an Engineer, an Accountant, and a Marketer, but I want to be an Artist. My current role is with the Department for Water, Environment and Natural Resources providing advice in respect of their commercial businesses, particularly Seal Bay on Kangaroo Island, Cleland in the Adelaide Hills, and the World Heritage Fossil Site at Naracoorte.Cancer has touched most of our lives and if taking on this challenge contributes in any small way to making that a more infrequent occurrence, any exhaustion will be a rewarding and joyful experience. My dear friend, Brian Chant from Property Asset Management has got the ball rolling with a good start. So get in behind the big fella and make the ride a big success and help do a big good!
