In 2009 at the age of 36yrs I was diagnosed with Stage 1 bowel cancer I had surgery and no further treatment was required. On a routine check-up in 2011, it was found that my cancer had returned, and was told I had terminal cancer that was inoperable as it had spread to my liver with multiple tumors, and that I would have a life expectancy of 5 years. I had a tough year with chemo and then responded better than expected and was put forward for radical surgery. I had 70% of my liver removed and recovered to now being cancer-free and being monitored very regularly. I also when going through treatment made friends with 2 amazing young people one named Paul who sadly passed away 3 days before his 40th birthday and Jodie a young mum of 3 boys who also sadly passed away at 42 yrs. So I walk for awareness in bowel cancer, I walk because life is for living and you never know what is around the corner, and I walk for those who fought the battle and to those who are going through this battle.
