I recently turned 50, and the day after my 50th birthday I received my letter regarding the national free bowl cancer screening program. Detected early, 99% of bowel cancer cases can be successfully treated, or even prevented.

- Australia has one of the highest rates of bowel cancer in the world
- Bowel cancer is the second most common cause of cancer-related death in Australia, after lung cancer
- This year an estimated 15,500 people will be diagnosed with bowel cancer

So to celebrate Deb's 50th Birthday, we are walking 72km to raise awareness about preventing bowel cancer.
