I first heard about this hike about a week after my dad passed away from this horrific disease in December last year . My Aunty was at the time, and still currently is, very bravely battling this disease. When I read about it I knew I had to do it, for a number of reasons. Firstly, it is fundraising for a very deserving foundation; secondly, part of the course travels very close to our home; and thirdly, I knew I needed to gain some fitness back and what better inspiration. Although the final clenching decision to do this was when I read that it is on the 18th of May, this is what would have been my dad’s 70th birthday! He was my first running partner when I was only 7, he was training for his first marathon, but would always collect me at the end of his run for a lap of the block. He really was the best dad ever and was definitely taken too soon. Now let’s do this!!!
