Nigel and I were looking for a challenge to encourage us to get a bit fitter and came across The JLF Trek.
Its a two day event where we will be aiming to hike 80kms along the beautiful Heysen trail supporting The Jodi Lee Foundation. We have a lot of trekking ahead of us to prep for this event!
The Jodi Lee Foundation has been set up to encourage early detection of bowel cancer with an aim to eliminate bowel cancer in Australia.

Jodi Lee was only 39 when she was diagnosed with bowel cancer and died 2 years later. If her cancer had been detected early there may have been a different outcome.
I never got to meet my grandmother who passed away from bowel cancer aged 38 in 1966 leaving my mother and her siblings without a mother at an early age. 2016 will mark 50 years since her untimely death.
