I was diagnosed with Stage III Bowel Cancer on 4th February 2020. After having a large section of my bowel and tumour (named Brian) removed I then had 6 months of Chemotherapy. Then almost one year later to the date I found out I had secondary bowel cancer which had spread to my lung. I then underwent lung surgery to have that tumour (Bruce) removed. Unfortunately the cancer is aggressive, now stage IV, and only a few months on and it’s back in both my pelvis area and my lung. At the moment I am in my 2nd week of my 6 week gruelling treatment of combined daily radiation and chemotherapy to target the pelvis area. Then it’s SABR radiation on lung and more intense surgery. I am the classic cliche of “if only I’d caught this earlier”!!! This disease is debilitating and does not discriminate despite the relatively healthy lifestyle I had. If my story can encourage just one person to get their bowel screening test NOW then I’m a happy camper. So let’s spread the word, start talking, and get walking together!!!!
