I’m taking part in the Jodi Lee Foundation’s (JLF) 300K Step challenge #jlf300ksteps.
JLF empower Australians to take active steps to prevent bowel cancer through promoting awareness and fundraising.
JLF means something to me because I’ve had a bowel disease for 18 years and your risk of bowel cancer increases if you’ve had inflammatory bowel disease. Why 300K steps? Because exercising regularly reduces your cancer risk.
Jodi Lee, aged 40, mother of two passed away from bowel cancer in 2010.
Before Jodi’s diagnosis she was fit and healthy. She had no family history and no symptoms whatsoever, which is typical of bowel cancer.
Bowel cancer is the second biggest cause of cancer related death.
Detected early, 99% of bowel cancer cases can be successfully treated, or even prevented.
