Recently one summer’s evening in Melbourne, whilst chatting with a friend over a few cool beers after a game of beach volleyball, I found myself in the unlikely position of volunteering to run a marathon.
It was an unusual move for me as I’ve never run a marathon before, and I am aware that I might not win it (although admittedly I haven’t yet checked who is in the field…..), but it sounded like a challenge and seemed a clever thing to do.
So here I am, about to commence my preparation.

The charity in whose aid we are doing this resonates deeply with me, having lost close friends to bowel cancer in the past.
