I live on the Gold Coast with my wife Lizzy and sons Alex & Joey. We have called the Gold Coast home for most of the past 10 years and love it here.
Originally connected to The Jodi Lee Foundation by another participant in the Foundation’s events, I have been moved to make a contribution in the best way I can.
I don't think there is anyone that doesn't know someone who is either battling, or dealing with cancer. I have dealt first hand with it as my wife has battled breast cancer over the past 3 years.
Whilst breast cancer and bowel cancer are different, the only reason my wife is now recovering is early detection and I believe the work The Jodi Lee Foundation in early detection is inspiring and needed.
I'm a simple guy who loves his sport, his wife, his family and his travel. An avid triathlete and cyclist, it’s been a while since I have spent some serious time out doing miles on the road.
So what better way for me to get back in to it than to do it for a great cause and combine my passion for sport and travel? Running a marathon in the beautiful city and travelling with my wife to get there.
I've run two marathons previous but they were after Ironman swims and cycles, so this will be a challenge as the goals in an ironman are a little different - mostly survival. Given it’s been four years since the last Ironman, come to think of it I think the goals for this marathon will be the same…survival.
I’m looking forward to running this amazing event, and flying the flag for The Jodi Lee Foundation cause in the process.
