I am based on the North Coast of NSW, where I am employed with the NSW Police, a position I have held for 12 years. I am also an avid cyclist and have been since 2005.
I have been secretly seeking to participate in a charity event for some time, looking over many an event, but things for one reason or another haven’t worked out.
I saw a link on Facebook to The Jodi Lee Foundation ‘Little Black Dress Classic’ and was intrigued. Looking further into this event, the more I was interested and thinking this is the one for me.
I like the majority of people have been affected by losing someone close to this horrible disease, that person was my father.
Cancer does not discriminate and can strike at any time. It takes people like Nick Lee and his team to take a stand that appeals to me, and that’s something I’m willing to hurt for.
Another reason is the departure place and date, the chance to ride around the beautiful Coffs Harbour, Clarence Valley, Byron and Hinterland regions which is basically my backyard, is a chance I’m not going to pass on. The date being the 22nd of March is the day after what would have been my Mum’s 75th birthday, and 2015 marks the 5th anniversary of her passing, so I’m looking at this event as a ‘once in a lifetime’, ‘all the boxes are being ticked’ event.
I can’t wait to get on the roadie and hit the road….. I might also bring along Vlad.
