I am a UK radiologist, now based in Brisbane. After changing jobs last year I bought a fixed-gear track bike to commute to work and have recently joined a local cycling group.
Although I still count myself as a novice rider I have always enjoyed a challenge, particularly endurance events.
So watching friends complete last years Little Black Dress Classic in Tasmania before I'd even started cycling myself was as inspiring as learning about The Jodi Lee Foundation and it's amazing work to increase awareness of the early detection of bowel cancer.
I see a lot malignant disease in my occupation. Fortunately though, bowel cancer often has a long lead-time which means with early detection, treatment can usually be curative.
So the 3 Brisbane based riders (admittedly Tom) have organised a cash prize raffle (1st prize $1000, 2nd prize $500 and 3rd prize $250); donations to Tom, Joe and myself are rewarded with 1 ticket for $5 or 3 tickets for every $10.
When you donate to my link, I will allocate your ticket numbers for the draw on April 30th.
So please, please, please consider testing yourself, spread the word and dig deep to support the Foundation. I know that I and the rest of the team will be.
