Jodi Lee was one of the first people I met when my family and I moved to Vietnam 9 years ago, and we became fast friends. We have many happy memories of time spent with the Lee family in Vietnam and in Australia.
I was heartbroken when she was diagnosed, yet I was also incredibly moved by her strength and determination during her courageous battle. It’s been 5 years since we lost Jodi but her spirit lives on through Nick, Jack and Bella and the vital work of The Jodi Lee Foundation.
Over the years, I have been inspired by the impressive physical challenges undertaken in marathons, bike rides, ultra events, treks etc., as well as the generosity shown at Little Black Dress events to raise money for and awareness of the prevention of bowel cancer.
In Saigon, we’ve organized two Little Black Dress parties – the first a chance for our Vietnam friends to support Jodi from afar during her illness and the second to welcome the cyclists who rode in the Ride for the Little Black Dress Vietnam two years ago.
It’s very exciting (and a little terrifying!) to get on the bike and join the ride this year! As a novice cyclist, I know I have a huge challenge ahead but am so honored to take part in this ride with Nick, two great Vietnam friends and the rest of the team.
Many thanks to my husband Jody for encouraging me to participate and to our boys William & George for being so understanding of time I am spending out on the bike training. I couldn’t do this without them!
So…simply stated, I am riding in the Little Black Dress Classic 2015 in memory of a remarkable person and dear friend and to support the work of The Jodi Lee Foundation to help prevent bowel cancer.

Cancer is indiscriminate – in Jodi’s case and so many others we loved and lost – but The Jodi Lee Foundation stands firm in its mission to prevent the spread of bowel disease/colon cancer and to help save lives. If you haven’t already, please go get tested
Now I’m off to go train and to try to find some hills in Vietnam… wish me luck!
