The challenging idea of running an marathon had been floating around in my thoughts for a little while now. Could I really do it........and do I need a “why”? Then by chance I found an awesome reason, it was like it was meant to be. Part of my life’s journey. I can run for a charity, I can run for myself, I can run for my family and I can run for others.
I am proud to be a part of raising awareness & funds for this charity. The more I learn about bowel cancer the more I am driven to help spread the message about the importance of both early detection and ongoing screening. With organisations such as The Jodi Lee Foundation working for us all, I know we can make a difference and I am thrilled to be able to play my small part in this.
I didn’t know Jodi Lee and don’t yet know her family, but I understand and relate to their story. I also lost a parent way too early because of this disease. My very much loved Dad was a marathon runner and he is a huge motivation to me when I am in training. I use some of his techniques in my preparations for runs and at times I feel him running with me.
Along with Jodi Lee, he will most definitely be on my mind and in my heart in November.
