Nikki is not athlete of note, her previous highest sporting achievement being attending Regional swimming championships in Primary School as part of the Keiraville Public relay team.
However after the Jodi Lee Foundation was formed in 2010 she wanted to contribute to raising awareness of bowel cancer because of her long personal friendship with Jodi and her own mother’s battle with the same disease, a battle she waged for six years but sadly lost in November 2012. So she got a couple of girls together and they climbed the highest mountain in Africa Mt Kilimanjaro, and flew the Jodi Lee Foundation flag at the very tippy top.
Last year she managed a mid-year international move while incorporating training and learning how to say All Y’all. Unfortunately Hurricane Sandy or not she had to fly home the first week of November to say goodbye to her precious mum so missed the NYC Marathon that wasn’t. New year, new plan, she is off to New York in 2013 and will blog about her preparation experience at One mountain, One Marathon (www.offtoclimbamountain.wordpress.com ).
