I first met Jodi and Nick a few years ago after Jodi’s diagnosis and their return from Vietnam. I wish I had known them both for longer, as I can’t imagine meeting a more inspiring couple. Jodi’s tenacity in fighting her illness with everything she had, and somehow managing to keep a smile on her face was remarkable. Nick’s ability to not only cope with a husband’s worse nightmare, but to turn his grief to something positive and potentially life-saving through the Jodi Lee Foundation is equally inspiring. As a colorectal surgeon, I see the consequences of a late diagnosis of bowel cancer almost every day and would love to never see it again. The Jodi Lee Foundation’s message is a vital one, and I look forward to plodding my way around the streets of New York to spread the word and to raise money for such a worthwhile cause.
