Running a marathon has always been something I wanted to do, but not something I had ever got around to doing. I decided this year was the year, I will be turning 41 the age Jodi made it too but never really got to live to enjoy. So for me it's simple I'm going to celebrate Jodi's 41 years with 42 kilometres, 41 of them for her and one of them for me. I never gave much thought to how much training went into running a marathon so I am no appreciating how totally consuming and how intense it can be on your body. The furthest I had ever run was a small 10km, so 42 is a big ask, but I am determined to do it and to raise money and awareness for such a wonderful cause.
We are about to move from Singapore where training has been rather "hot & sweaty" to Portland in the USA where it will be much cooler. I'm really looking forward to being able to run after the sun comes up rather than being up well before dawn. My husband and almost four year old son will be joining me in NY to cheer me on, lets hope Jodi and their support will help to get me across that line.
