Earlier this year our friend Nick put up the challenge of running the New York Marathon, he made it all sound so much fun, fundraising in Jodi’s honour, running the marathon and a trip to New York, however I have since learnt that 42.2km is a very, very long way. I have just completed the Gold Coast Marathon in 3.49.13, with sore legs, blisters on the feet and a huge smile and like a true insane runner started planning my training for New York that same afternoon.
I seem to always be running– running our business the ‘North Adelaide IGA’ with my husband Greg, running after our 2 two children and running the streets early in the morning with the SA Road Runners Club, who are my running guru’s.
Reaching my fundraising target and the finish line will be a very rewarding experience because, as my trainer puts it, ‘pain is temporary and quitting is forever’.
